Kava strength is usually measured in kavalactones, the active compounds. Some brands print the amount (Mitra9 lists 150 mg per can); many don't. Follow the label, start with one serving, and never combine kava with alcohol.

Kavalactones are the main active compounds in kava root. Products that list a dose usually list milligrams of kavalactones, or milligrams of kava extract.
