Mushroom gummies: how to choose good ones

Mushroom gummies are convenient, but many contain very little mushroom. Here's what to check.

The short answer
Check the mushroom dose per gummy (many are small), whether it's fruiting body extract, the sugar per serving, and for third-party testing. A capsule or powder often gives you more mushroom for less sugar.

Check the dose

Gummies have limited room. Some contain only a small amount of mushroom extract per gummy, so look at the dose per serving and how many gummies a serving is.

Fruiting body or mycelium?

As with any mushroom supplement, labels that specify fruiting body extract are a better sign. See our mushroom supplement guide.

Sugar

Most gummies contain sugar. If you'd take several a day, it adds up.

Third-party testing

Look for testing seals and products that disclose testing for heavy metals.

Gummies vs. other formats

Capsules and powders usually deliver more mushroom per serving with less sugar. Gummies win on convenience and taste.
